Are Your Older Students Checked Out During Speech Therapy?
Do you find yourself working harder than your students during sessions?
Many upper elementary, middle school, and high school students seem disengaged, resistant, or unsure why they're even in speech therapy.
Keeping older students motivated can feel challenging—especially when balancing large caseloads, mixed groups, and limited planning time.
The good news? Motivation doesn't require elaborate materials or hours of prep.
Join Hallie Sherman for this practical training designed to help you increase participation, engagement, and student buy-in using simple, effective strategies you can implement right away.
That changes on August 10th.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
List at least three factors that contribute to decreased motivation and engagement in older speech-language students.
Describe five strategies for increasing motivation and participation in speech-language therapy sessions for secondary students.
Apply at least two methods for increasing student ownership and choice within therapy sessions.

MEET YOURÂ Â HOST
Hey there, I'm Hallie.
I'm a licensed speech-language pathologist from NY. I worked for 16 years in the schools with ages preschool through high school, but spent most of my career with older speech students.
After struggling to find appropriate resources to use with older students, I decided to create my own, share them online, and help other SLPs who were also struggling.
Since 2012, I have been supporting SLPs working with grades 4-12 through my blog, Speech Time Fun, over 600 TpT resources, professional development, my SLP Coffee Talk podcast, and my SLP Elevate membership. I am passionate about helping SLPs plan with ease and confidence so they can have more fun and have more time for themselves!
